Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of cloud migration strategies to Microsoft Azure, focusing on best practices, common challenges, and performance optimization techniques. Through a systematic review of current literature and industry case studies, we examine five key migration approaches: Rehosting, Refactoring, Rearchitecting, Rebuilding, and Replacing with SaaS solutions. Our findings emphasize the critical importance of thorough planning and assessment in ensuring successful migrations, highlighting the efficacy of phased approaches and the need for robust security and compliance considerations. The research identifies common pitfalls in Azure migrations, including technical hurdles, organizational resistance, and post-migration performance issues, while proposing mitigation strategies for each. Furthermore, we explore various performance optimization techniques within Azure, stressing the significance of continuous monitoring and improvement processes. This work contributes to the growing body of knowledge on cloud migration, offering both theoretical insights and practical guidelines for organizations embarking on their Azure migration journey, ultimately aiming to enhance decision-making processes and improve migration outcomes in terms of cost-efficiency, scalability, and overall performance.
